The statement by leading employer and union groups calls for significant action, innovative thinking and creative solutions to address Australia’s skills crisis. Skills Australia and the Industry Skills Councils in particular have been identified as key drivers in the development of this initiative. For the first time, all governments agreed on a common framework for the reform of education. COAG has endorsed a comprehensive set of the aspirations, outcomes, progress measures and future policy directions in the key areas of early childhood, schooling and skills and workforce development.
